Seeking Part-Time Teachers for Waldorf Homeschooling in Western New York

We are looking for individuals to hold, foster, and renew with us the social relationships of a vibrant homeschool community committed to medical freedom and supporting the creative thinking of free human beings, while holding screen-free, festival-oriented, artistic, creative, and spatial movement activities with our children.

Qualifications

  • Loves connecting with, being with, and teaching children, brings enthusiasm to their work, a spirit of joy and possibility amidst seasonal changes, understands the spiritual awakening required for social three-folding, a commitment to protecting childhood, medical freedom, and creative freedom of the individual

  • Engaged in active personal study of Waldorf’s and Rudolf Steiner’s pedagogy, principles, and practices, exploring ways to expand and enhance Steiner’s philosophy, a foundation in Anthroposophy, able to reference and suggest appropriate readings and participate in discussions with parents

  • Ability to plan and deliver creative activities, weekly programming offering a rotation of movement, recall, story, artistic work, book work, nature exploration, seasonal festival celebrations, etc., ability to engage students, highly collaborative with students, colleagues, and parents

  • High degree of responsibility, personal accountability standards, interest in self-development of skills that support the curriculum and good working relations, excellent organizational skills, dependable, punctual, professional in speech and manner, digital literacy

  • Pursues continued training to learn and teach from a spirit-led Waldorf methodology, including but not limited to:

Located Near Buffalo, New York

We are located just south of Buffalo, New York. South of Toronto and Niagara Falls, and three hours from Pittsburgh and Cleveland, we are in the heart of the Lake Erie watershed and surrounded by small but robust family farms, an abundance of u-pick fruit orchards, farm markets, pastured dairy, protected natural park land, and community festivals, yet still minutes from an established Waldorf school, international airport, Amtrak train station, and world-class art museums, architecture, and historical sites.

Flexible Part-Time Schedule

10-15 hours per week or 1-3 days per week, Tuesday to Saturday

More hours can be arranged to teach a “forest school” day or specialty classes of your interest, abilities, or motivation to offer to the community.

Competitive Compensation

Competitive compensation will be negotiated per agreed-upon exchange. Accommodation can be provided if needed, boarding with a family in a separate private space.
